Cork Natural Fertility Clinic

Modern research and common sense confirms what the ancient Chinese and Ayuvedic doctors said "the health of both parents at the exact moment of conception dictates the constitutional health of the offspring".

Statistics internationally show that 1 in 5 couples are experiencing problems conceiving their babies. The ratio of male and female infertility is equal. With this in mindÉ

The multi disciplinary health care team at The Cork Natural Fertility Clinic (CNFC), who have many years of experience in assisting couples already diagnosed with INFERTILITY are now also focusing on a three month PRECONCEPTION PROGRAMME.

The old adage "prevention is better than cure" rings true with this new approach.

Most couples quite happily spend months and thousands of Euros preparing for the wedding that marks the beginning of their married life. Yet few prepare for the conception that marks the beginning of their child's life with the same attention to detail even though conceiving a child is one of the most significant events in any of our lives. For the child who is conceived, the events surrounding his or her conception can affect his or her health for a lifetime - for better, or for worse.

It is only after conception that most couples consider committing themselves to some sort of health programme to prepare for birth. Most never question the obvious importance of a program for preconception care!

The Cork Natural Fertility Clinic (CNFC) in Cobh have been successfully treating both male and female infertility patients for the last 9 years. Following on from this Deirdre Mackesy and the dedicated multidisciplinary fertility team at the CNFC have put together a three month program focusing on optimizing the health of both parties who are PLANNING on starting a family. The Chinese have always said that the health of both parties at conception denotes the constitutional health of the child.

Internationally Infertility figures are rising and now stands at one in 5 couples who are experiencing some difficulties in conceiving their child. The CNFC team feel that it makes much more sense to treat couples BEFORE they start "trying" to conceive their family. At least stress wont be such a contributory factor at that stage said Deirdre. Up until now at the CNFC it is mainly the couples who are "strung out" and exhausted mentally physically and emotionally that present to them following years of "trying"!! Our success rates are very good in spite of this.

In these cases it can take longer to repair the ravages on the body of stress, grief, guilt, toxicity, lethargy, despair, pathology etc. Quite a number of patients have varying degrees of pathology present also ie: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Endometriosis, fibroids, Menstrual irregularities, Sperm issues, erectile dysfunction, High FSH levels which takes some time to treat. Prevention is better than cure and early intervention is important.

Deirdre feels that nature meant women to have children in their early twenties. Women today are starting their families later and to this end, nature needs a helping hand.

Preconception care is for couples that wish to give their child the best start in life. A preconception care plan benefits couples that have a history of infertility or miscarriage. It is also of great benefit to couples that want to improve their success through IVF or similar procedures.

The three month preconception programme involves a healthy and individualized diet program, lifestyle changes, stress management, acupuncture, homoeopathy, Chinese herbal medicine, cranial osteopathy and pre conception massage.
